The Federal government of Nigeria through the Federal Ministry of Education offers local scholarships each academic session to eligible Nigerians students from public institutions across the country. The Federal government established and designed federal scholarships board to offers local and international Scholarships through the Federal Ministry of Education.

Federal Local Scholarships may includes National Award and the Education Bursary Award (EBA) Scholarship, this federal local scholarships was initiatives to provides financial support to Nigerian students studying from public tertiary institutions across Nigeria.

Who Can Apply for the EBA Scholarship 2026/2027?

Federal Education Bursary Award Scholarship 2027. Based on the Federal Ministry of Educations released Education Bursary Award (EBA) eligibility, requirements and guidelines, applicants are expected to meet the  requirements.

Generally, applicants must:

• Be a Nigerian and enrolled in a Nigerian Public College of Education, Polytechnic or University.
• Be a registered and studying on a full time basis.
• Have an active national identification number (NIN)
• Minimum of CGPA of 3.0 for Undergraduates students and minimum of CGPA of 3.5 (Second Class upper) for PhD students 
• Meet any additional requirements stated in the official application announcement for the particular academic session.

The Federal Scholarships Board (FSB) through the Federal Ministry of Education has released revised scholarship grants for the Education Bursary Award Scholarship under it is updated national scholarship framework.

The current published  Education Bursary Award Scholarship (EBA) award amounts are:

Federal Education Bursary Award Scholarship Process 

The Federal Scholarships Board through the Federal Ministry of Educations outlines the scholarship process from the application to disbursement. The board streamlined selection process is based on merits to ensures fair and transparency, and efficient scholarship selection from application to disbursement. Scholarship process steps:

Step 1: Application Form

Create your profile and fillout your personal, school and bank details, browse the application, apply and submit an application with the requested documents for NIMC and Institution verification.

Step 2: Verification of Records 

After submitting of application form, verification of your records will undergo 2 to 3 weeks through NIMC and Institution to verify your identity, academic records and institution validation.

Step 3: Review & Selection of Awardees 

Once your records is successful validated by NIMC and institution, board review committee will review all the applications submitted by the applicants. After compiling and conducting scoring, a successfully applicants shortlist will be released on the portal or in publicity.

Step 4: Disbursement to Awardees 

The board approved scholarships are  processed and disbursed directly to awardees on the scholarships portal or through verified board secure channels.

How to Apply for the Federal Education Bursary Award 2026/2027

1. Application Portal 

Visit the official Federal Scholarships portal, read the guidelines outlined on the portal and start application form.

2. Create an Account & Apply

For new applicant, click on the APPY button to create your profile and complete all the required sections such as personal information, institution information and banking information.

For existing, click on the LOG IN to continues by completing all the required sections such includes applicant personal information, institution information and banking information.

3. Apply for Scholarship

After creating an profile and update it with your personal details, institution details and banking details, click on browse available scholarships on the portal.

4. Upload Documents 

Apply for scholarship available and upload a cleared documents required. The required documents expected to uploads during the application form such includes recent passport photography, national identification number (NIN slip), CGPA slip, school admission letter, Academic transcript, Birth Certificate,  Indigene certificate and other requested documents.

5. Submission of Application Form

Preview your details before submitting to ensures all the entries are correct and accurate and than click on the Submit button. After upon successfully submission of application, applicants should proceed to down their application slip for future reference.
