FUGUS General Requirements for Academic Staff Job Positions
The FUGUS academic qualifications and experience required depend on position applying for:
1. Professor
- Professor applying for professorial positions in the general academic staff departments are expected to possess a PhD in any relevant discipline and have a minimum of 12 years of university teaching experience, including a minimum of three years as a Reader or meet the equivalent requirements under the university approved terms and conditions of service.
- Applicants must demonstrate an excellent research record, scholarly publications, postgraduate supervision experience, qualities academic leadership and administrative competence. External assessment may also be required.
2. Reader
- Applicants applying for reader positions are expected to obtained a relevant PhD and a minimum of nine (9) years of university teaching experience with a minimum of three years as a Senior Lecturer or satisfy the applicable equivalent requirements under the university approved terms and conditions of service.
- Applicants must demonstrate research productivity, scholarly publications, postgraduate supervision and qualities academic leadership.
3. Senior Lecturer
- Candidates applying for Senior Lecturer positions are expected to obtained a relevant PhD and a minimum of six years (6) of university teaching experience with a minimum of three years at Lecturer I level.
- Candidates must have a specifies requirements relating to scholarly publications, research activities, postgraduate supervision and qualities academic leadership.
4. Lecturer I
- Applicants applying for Lecturer I positions are expected to obtained a relevant PhD and meets the teaching experience and publication requirements
- Candidates with a masters degree who have served as Lecturer II and meet the stated experience and publication conditions.
5. Lecturer II
- Candidates applying for Lecturer II positions should obtained a relevant PhD or masters degree as applicable to the discipline and the university terms and conditions of service.
